NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The All Saints Berkshire Episcopal Church will reopen and resume delivering monthly meals to city seniors starting Nov. 1.

The All Saints Berkshire Episcopal Church Meal Ministry program will resume deliveries in November, and organizers hope to finish out the 2020 schedule for participants that are currently signed up to receive a meal.

"We want to be able to continue it hopefully through the second wave," Diane Bleau, All Saints Meal Ministry coordinator said.

The program is only for North Adams seniors 60 plus years of age.

Bleau said the Meal Ministry serves about 85 people. This number does not just include seniors but others in need of a meal.

Meals are cooked on-site and then delivered monthly on a Sunday under the Take & Eat program.

The program has been put on pause since April due to the COVID-19 virus. Currently, the parish is the only one to provide a Sunday meal.

Protocols will be in place to ensure a safe delivery with minimal contact.

Seniors who live in a private residence must wear a mask. The delivery person will also wear a mask and gloves. The delivery person will phone upon arriving and leave the meal outside of the door. The delivery person will stand six feet away and will wait until the meal is retrieved. No meal will be left unattended.

Seniors who live in Senior housing complexes will not have a door to door meal delivery. The delivery person will wait in the lobby and call each senior down to pick up a meal. All seniors must wear a mask and remain six feet apart. It is important to arrive promptly after the call to pick up the meal so that the next person can arrive to pick up a meal.

For seniors who have a physical limitation and can not pick up the meal, prior arrangements must be made for someone else to pick up the meal. Call Take & Eat, Inc. at 413-664-1041 to do this.

Participating seniors must be registered with Take & Eat, Inc. which is spearheaded by Deacon Frank and Kathleen Ryan. Take & Eat, Inc. can be reached at 413-664-1041.
