|MCLA Women Drop Narrow Decision on Senior Day|

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Worcester State's Mya Mosley scored a game best 29 points and the visiting Lancers rallied from a halftime deficit to earn a hard fought 68-64 win over MCLA in women's basketball action in the Amsler Campus Center Gym.
MCLA (2-20, 0-11 MASCAC) led 15-13 after one quarter of play and eventually took a 35-29 lead into halftime behind Erika Ryan' 11 first half points. Worcester State (15-8, 6-4) took charge in the third quarter however as they outscored MCLA 26-13 in the period and took a 55-48 lead into the home fourth quarter. MCLA did not go quietly however as the game would come down to the wire.
With five minutes remaining, Worcester still led 65-54. From there, MCLA chipped away at the lead as they held the Lancers without a point for nearly four minutes. The Trailblazers went on an 10-1 spurt to close within two at 66-64 after a pair of Kylah Langston FT's with just seven seconds left to play. Forced to foul, MCLA sent Worcester's Mosley to the line. She calmly drained both shots to increase the lead back to four points and secure the win for the Lancers.
Mosley was outstanding scoring 19 of her 29 points in the closing half of play. She went 11-21 from the floor in the win. Gigi LeMay was the only other Lancer in double figures with 10 points off the bench. She completed the double double with 14 rebounds. Catherine Sweeney ended with 8 points but had 11 rebounds and 4 assists.
Worcester State shot just 36% in the win.
MCLA was paced by Langston's 18 points. She added 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Shannon Carney and Ryan each ended with 13 points. Ryan finished with 10 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.
The Trailblazers shot 38% from the floor and couldn't overcome 17 turnovers.
Prior to the contest, MCLA honored their three seniors in Langston, Ryan, and Molleigh Sanes.
MCLA is off until the season finale next Saturday when it heads to Westfield State.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Worcester State's Tyler and Sam Dion combined for 54 points to lead the Lancers to a key Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletics Conference win over the MCLA Trailblazers, 96-89.
The Lancers split the season series with MCLA and are now 12-11 overall, but more importantly 8-2 in the conference. MCLA dropped its third straight to fall to 14-9 on the season and is 7-4 in the conference.
Tyler Dion went 8-12 from the floor, but a perfect 10-10 from the line for his game best 29 point night. He also dished out a game best 8 assists. Sam Dion went 8-11 which included a 6-9 performance from behind the three point line. He ended with 25 points.
Taconic graduate Quentin Gittens scored a season-best 22 points to lead MCLA. He was 10-for-12 from the floor and pulled down five boards. Noah Yearsley added 21 points with five 3s. Ki-Shawn Monroe ended with 18 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
The Trailblazers shot 53% from the floor, but were hurt by 17 turnovers.
Prior to the contest, MCLA honored their five seniors who played their final home game this afternoon. Honored pregame were Hans Resignac, Victor Stewart, Damon Daniel, Antoine Montgomery, and Ki-Shawn Monroe.
MCLA is off until next Saturday when it heads to Westfield State in the regular season finale.
