BOSTON, Mass. -- Williamstown's Owen Politis helped the West lacrosse team earn a gold medal at this week's Bay State Games.

The West went through the tournament with a 5-0 record and an impressive, 17-4 win over the Metro/Northeast squad in the gold medal game.

On the baseball diamond, the West team finished the tourney with a 2-3 record after dropping a narrow, 4-3, loss to Metro on Friday. Pittsfield High's Ian Benoit got the start on the mound for the West and went four innings, allowing three hits and just an unearned run.

In trap shooting, Lanesborough's Alex Kusick took home a BSG gold medal in the collegiate division.

Pittsfield's Lena Dupont advanced to the finals in the junior and scholastic pistol shooting competition.

Other Berkshire County athletes taking home medals included Ahna Schlafer and Anna Wang of Lee, who helped the West earn a bronze in volleyball.

The games continue this weekend with the girls basketball showcase, which features Drury High's Brooke DiGennaro and Hoosac Valley teammates Fallon Field, Kailynne Frederick and Riley Robinson playing together on the West squad for Drury alum Amy Cyr.
