Mass Casualty Drill Set Friday in North Adams12:47AM / Friday, October 28, 2016 | |
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — First responders from throughout Northern Berkshire, in concert with local and regional organizations, will hold an emergency preparedness exercise on Friday, Oct. 28, in Kemp Avenue area.
The drill will simulate a mass casualty incident and will take place during the morning hours.
Police and fire departments and EMS agencies from North Berkshire communities will participate in the event, joined by other public and private organizations.
There will be expected road diversions during the exercise in order to provide a safe environment for the drill. Residents of the street impacted, however, will be allowed to get to their homes during the event. The exercise will not have any impact on bus transportation in the area.
Local residents may notice increased activity in the area around the drill and radio communications if listening using a scanner. The exercise will not prevent rapid response to any actual emergencies.
The mass casualty drill is designed to enhance training and cooperation among multiple agencies and disciplines working together, and to improve actual response to such emergencies in the community. The drill is being funded by the Department of Homeland Security and the Northern Berkshire Regional Emergency Planning Committee, and the training is provided by Emergency Response Consulting and Close Range Tactical Consulting.
