NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The 2016 Northern Berkshire Children's Parade was a great success with 63 children participating on Friday night.

Despite threatening showers and some actual sprinkles, the parade took place without any problems.

Parade participants were led down Main Street from Eagle Street to City Hall by the police, Drury High School band and the SteepleCats' mascot Slider,  lots of folks were on Main Street cheering them onward.  

Awards were presented in three categories at City Hall by City Councilors Benjamin Lamb and Lisa Blackmer and Mayor Richard Alcombright. Organizers included longtime volunteer Kathy Keeser and the city's Events Coordinator Suzy Helme.

Award winners received a medal on a red, white and blue ribbon and some a gift certificate donated by Persnickety Toys on Eagle Street. This year's theme was on national parks and monuments.
