The viewing stand is ready to go on Main Street for Sunday's big parade.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— The Fall Foliage Festival culminates this weekend with several parades and events. And changes will be updated here.
 

Friday, Sept. 30

5:30 p.m., Children's Parade, Main Street: Children from throughout the Northern Berkshires are encouraged to make costumes and enter the parade. This year's theme is "Salute to National Parks and Monuments." Participants must arrive at the corner of Main and Eagle streets at 5 p.m. Parade begins at 5:30 and will proceed west on Main Street to City Hall. Ribbons will be given to all participants. Group and float winners will be invited to participate in the Fall Foliage Parade on Sunday, Oct. 2. Groups should be 10 or fewer children, as there are only 10 medals that will be awarded per category/prize. Awards are sponsored by Greylock Federal Credit Union.

In case of rain, the event will move into First Baptist Church at Main and Eagle.


7 p.m., First Congregational Church, 134 Main St.: A concert of hope and healing, a community response to violence at home and abroad, will be held. Dessert to follow concert and goodwill offering to support local nonprofits. For more information, call 413-652-8466.

Saturday, Oct. 1

9 a.m.-1 p.m., North Adams Farmers Market/Bring Your Dog to the Market, St. Anthony Municipal Parking Lot: The Farmers Market is one of the most pet-friendly places in the city. Celebrate the Dog Day of Fall by bringing your dog to the market. Special market vendors will include animal rescue agencies and animal-themed products. As always, patrons of the market can find fresh fruits and vegetables, cheese, canned goods, baked goods, eggs, and meat. 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Fall Foliage Craft Fair, Main Street, between Holden & Eagle: Shop at dozens of local artisan and crafter booths while enjoying live music, food and fall. For vendor applications call 413-664-6180 or email tourism@northadams-ma.gov.

9 a.m.-3 p.m., Fall Bazaar, VFW Post 996, Mohawk Trail: The event includes chinese auction, fish bowl, raffles, baked goods, fried dough and hot dogs and more. Contact Mary Risch at 413-743-5040.

10:30-11:30 a.m., Dog Parade, Veteran's Memorial Park: Lineup starting at 10 a.m. Owners are encouraged to make costumes and enter their dogs into this parade. This year's theme is "Salute to National Parks and Monumnets." Categories are: funniest, best duo (owner and dog), best group (dogs), best small dog, best medium-sized dog, and best large dog. Prizes will be awarded following the parade and ribbons will be given to all participants. Dog parade winners will be invited to participate in the Fall Foliage Parade. Awards are sponsored by Greylock Federal Credit Union.

Sunday, Oct. 2

Noon, Fall Classic 5k Race, 85 Main St., Suite 200: Call 413-496-6347 for registration Information. The race will begin at the top of Main Street and head down Curran Highway toward Adams before circling down Old State Road and coming back down Curran Highway, to Main Street and onto American Legion Drive to Ashland, and back down Main Street,  finishing by Greylock Federal Credit Union.

1 p.m., Fall Foliage Parade: In honor of its 61st year, all past grand marshals are welcome to join in and lead the parade. The parade will commence at the Ocean State Job Lots parking lot and conclude on Ashland Street after passing through downtown via Main Street.

2 p.m., Levitt AMP North Adams Presents Caitlin Canty, Colegrove Park, North Church Street: Local food available from Grazie and local brews available from Bright Ideas Brewing. This series is presented by MCLA Berkshire Cultural Resource Center in collaboration with the city of North Adams, supported by the Levitt Foundation, MCLA, Greylock Federal Credit Union, Mass MoCA, NBCC, Excelsior Printing, GVH Studio Inc., Bright Ideas Brewing and Grazie.

Parking Rules for the Parade:

• No Parking After 9 a.m. on along the parade route including Curran Highway, Hadley Overpass, and State, Main, Ashland, Church, lower Eagle (business district), and North Church streets.
• Curran Highway closes to northbound traffic from Hodges Cross Road at 11
• All parade participants should enter from the north and exit south
• Route 8 traffic will be detoured over Church Street
• The entire parade route will be shut down to traffic at noon
• Vehicles parked on the parade route will be ticketed/towed at owner's expense.

Friday, Sept. 23

9 a.m.-4 p.m., Friends of North Adams Public Library Book Sale, St. Elizabeth's Parish Center: The sale will feature a selection of paper and hardback books, books on CD, DVDs, children's books, and religious books all moderately priced, including some free VHS tapes.

Saturday, Sept. 24

9-11:30 a.m., Fall Foliage Children's Races and Family Fair, Noel Field Athletic Complex: The Youth Center Inc. and BCAC coordinate a foot race and family fair. This event is open to all ages, with categories for various age groups, and awards for group winners. The fair includes obstacle courses, games, give-a-ways, entertainment, and food. Children's Fair booths are hosted by local community organizations.  Awards are sponsored by Greylock Federal Credit Union.

9 a.m., V.F.W. Post #9144, 12th Golf Tournament, Stamford Valley Golf Course: The event is an  18-hole golf tournament with dinner. For more information, call Ed at 413-662-2438 or Joe at 413-663-8710.

Thursday, Sept. 29

4-7 p.m., Fall Foliage Ziti Supper, S. Elizabeth's of Hungary, 70 Marshall St.: St. Elizabeth's of Hungary will hold its annual ziti supper at the Parish Center. Dinner includes ziti and meatballs, garden salad, bread and butter, a beverage and choice of assorted desserts. Tickets can be purchased at the door or reserved by calling the church rectory. Tickets are $10, $6 for seniors and kids 12 and under.

5-8 p.m., DownStreet Art, Downtown North Adams: This is the final DownStreet Art Thursday of the 2016 season and the event will feature gallery exhibits and other entertainment. Details online.
