The free Movies Under the Stars returns in Adams this year at a new venue: the Visitors Center.

ADAMS, Mass. — The town's Movies Under the Stars will return for the summer this Friday at the Visitors Center.

Police Officer Gregory Charon, who also organizes Dana Labbee Summer Basketball, said that Movies Under the Stars will kick off this Friday with "Zootopia" at 7:30 p.m. The animated film is about the first bunny police officer and her adventures proving herself.

"That is going to happen this Friday, and it is going to happen at the Visitors Center," Charon said. "We are all set and ready to go and we need people and come to enjoy the Visitors Center."

After the disbanding of the Events Planning Committee, many town events were left without organizers. However, Dana Labbee Summer Basketball and the town decided to take over this event.

Charon said the event used to be held on the lawn of Town Hall, and the Visitors Center may be smaller but it will be safer.

"I just felt it was a little safer down there than on the front lawn," he said. "As a police officer I have worked that function and it just made me a little edgy that kids were near the road and everything."

The event is free and people are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to sit on.

"Homeward Bound" will play July 29; "Norm of the North" will play Aug. 5 and "Pan" will play Aug. 12.
