ADAMS, Mass. — The Massachusetts Bankers Association has elected seven executives to serve in positions on its board of directors, including Charles P. O’Brien, who will serve as its vice chairman for a one-year term.

O’Brien has more than 35 years of experience in banking and financial services and has been president and CEO of Adams Community Bank since 2002.

“I am honored to serve the members of the Massachusetts Bankers Association as their Vice Chairman,” O’Brien said. “The banking industry in Massachusetts has a history that includes creating financial security and improving the lives of individuals.”

O’Brien previously served as treasurer of the Mass Bankers board of directors and has also served on a number of other boards. Locally he has served on the boards of the Northern Berkshire United Way, the Adams Lions Club, Berkshire Housing, Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, and as a member of the Berkshire Business Roundtable. In the banking industry he had served on the boards of the Depositors Insurance Fund as chairman, the Massachusetts Bankers Association, and the American Bankers Association’s community banking council.

Founded in 1905, the Massachusetts Bankers Association represents approximately 160 commercial, savings and co-operative banks and savings and loan associations in Massachusetts and elsewhere in New England.
