We don't need an ocean to have a beach! Visit North Adams on a Friday in the middle of July as more than 250,000 pounds of sand, donated by Specialty Minerals and delivered by the City of North Adams, is spread - curb to curb - the entire length of Eagle Street. The family-friendly beach party runs from 3:30 – 6:30 and the adult-oriented fiesta, complete with margaritas served on the beach, takes place from 7-10pm. Lita Williams will be dj-ing from 3:30- 6:00 and performing live in the evening.

Join Williams Artist-In-Residence Emily Johnson for a Community Sewing Bee at The Makers’ Mill! We are creating a series of 84 hand sewn quilts. When completed, the quilts will be laid outdoors for an all night performance filled with dance, storytelling and stargazing! For more information on the project please visit the project website. ALL ARE WELCOME. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! We provide all materials as well as beverages and snacks. Feel free to bring drinks or snacks to share. Fireworks are an integral part of America’s Fourth of July celebrations all over the country, and our local show in North Adams is one of the most prestigious in Western Massachusetts. Our celebration draws thousands of viewers from the Capital region of New York State, Southern Vermont, and Berkshire County. For an evening of all-American fun, grab some tickets to the annual 4th of July SteepleCats game, and stick around for the fireworks, which start immediately afterward, at approximately 9:30pm.
Fireworks are set off by Joe Wolfe Field, but are visible from numerous locations throughout North Adams.

The Quaker Meeting House, built in 1782 by the East Hoosuck Meeting of the Society of Friends, essentially unchanged since its construction, was the place of worship of the family of Susan B. It is located in the Maple Street Cemetery.

Hello to all our lovely Mount Greylock Firefly fans, friends and families! Due to the overwhelming interest in attending our "Firefly Frolic" Interpretive Event at Mount Greylock State Reservation, we have set up a FREE REGISTRATION program to allow for a safe and fun experience for Firefly fans and families with small children to attend. The "Firefly Frolic" 90 minute long Interpretive Event includes an indoor group introduction, a name game, a brief informative talk with scientific fun facts about fireflies, and an audience participation "kids of all ages" friendly game called "Firefly Safety Charades" which will help identify safe and appropriate "catch and release" techniques for the fireflies, and the humans who enjoy them.
