NEW BEDFORD, Mass. -- The North Adams SteepleCats’ three-game winning streak came to an end Tuesday night in a 4-2 loss to the New Bedford Bay Sox at Paul Walsh Field.
Ryan Tapp pitched well for the ‘Cats (10-7), going five innings allowing three runs off of four hits. He pitched a shutout through the first four innings. He ran into trouble in the fifth inning when he walked the bases load and then gave up a bases clearing triple to Ryan Wolfsberg which turned out to be the difference in the game.
Bay Sox (5-1) starter Samuel Nepiarsky shut out the SteepleCats for the first five innings. Trailing 3-0, the ‘Cats were able to get a rally going against him in the sixth, cutting the lead to 3-2. He finished the outing going six innings, allowing two runs off of four hits and struck out seven.
After a day off on Wednesday, the SteepleCats will be back in action Thursday night against the Mystic Schooners at Joe Wolfe Field. Ben Olson (3-0, 2.16) will be on the mound for the ‘Cats making his fourth start of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
