NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Little kids got to play with big trucks - and school buses, tractors, ambulances, fire engines and police cars - at the annual Touch a Truck event sponsored by Child Care of Berkshires on Wednesday morning.
The star of the show was one of the two new North Adams ambulances, purchased this month with donations from Iberdrola Renewables and MountainOne Bank and through the North Adams Ambulance Service subscription drive. The ambulance joined several other local vehicles, including fire engines and a police car from North Adams, a tractor and dump truck, a school bus and a flat-bed tow truck.
This year, it was not raining or snowing, as it has been in past year for the Touch a Truck event. Instead, the hundreds of children who came with families and day care providers were treated to bright blue sky and temperatures around 50 degrees.
