Join us for this annual winter celebration! There will be ice sculpting, the annual chowder cook-off, a winter Farmers Market, horse-drawn wagon rides on Main Street, sledding, snow shoeing, free ice skating at the Veterans Rink, hot cocoa, a bonfire, and that’s just day 1!  Join us at Windsor Lake for a second day of winter fun, sledding, exploring the trails, and tossing snowballs before warming up with hot cocoa and a bonfire from 2-4PM and the campground pavilion.

B-HIP is a 3 graduate credit course this is open to college students (juniors and seniors), recent graduates, graduate students, and working professionals. If in college, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Nonprofit, business, and/or arts management coursework or expereince in the field is helpful. Applicants should be passionate about the arts management field and be prepared for an intensive twelve weeks. Interns are required to be available for the full program.

How To Apply: B-HIP welcomes international students. B-HIP will run from May 23rd to August 12th, 2016. Application deadline is February 22, 2016. We encourage applicants to apply early. B-HIP is a highly competitive internship and spots fill quickly.

A free arts event held at Windsor Lake, showcasing art that encourages participants to play, dance, sing, create, engage, experiment, and explore their environment. Basic Genealogy will be offered at the North Adams Public Library, 74 Church St. Alan Doyle, Horbal Genealogist, will show how to conduct genealogy research. He will present an introduction to genealogy along with helpfull hints for conducting your research. You will learn how to use the United States Census from 1790-1940 and the Ellis Island website to find relatives coming from Europe. Alan will also demonstrate international research for Canada,Poland,Galicia and England. You must be computer literate and have an email address. Sign up is required by calling the library at 413-662-3133. This course is progressive-you must take all four classes.The course is free the classes will meet February 4, 11, 18 and 25. You have to knock on the door as the library is closed.

The exhibit includes artworks from 33 artists from 17 states at varying stages in their careers. The artworks include traditional art forms like drawing, painting and sculpture, but also time-based mediums like video and artist books, as well as participatory pieces.   This mixed-media exhibition, inspired by the #BlackLivesMatter movement, was curated by MCLA professors Dr. Frances Jones-Sneed and Melanie Mowinski.

“Alleviating Wildlife Conflicts in Massachusetts,” presented by Monte Chandler, state director for USDA-APHIS-Wildlife Services, is free and open to the public. This spring, the series will consider the relationship between people and wildlife, both locally and more broadly.
“These presentations will inform both students and community members how conflict arises and is addressed when wildlife interferes with human activities,” said Dr. Elena Traister, MCLA professor of environmental science. “We also will explore strategies for wildlife conservation in a rapidly changing world.”

Students will move beyond sewing straight lines and sew an easy to wear tunic. Ericka will teach how to choose appropriate fabric for a project, how to read and use a pattern, cutting fabric, and finishing techniques that elevate your finished clothing items. Please bring 2 yards of a lightweight cotton or linen fabric appropriate for a finished tunic (i.e. something you would like to wear). If you have a machine from home that you’d like to use, please feel free to bring it; otherwise, machines in the shop will be available.

Ericka Traven is a recent transplant to the Berkshires and will be sharing her love and knowledge of all things fiber related this year through classes at the Maker’s Mill. She sews, knits, dyes, weaves, embroiders, mends, and is passionate about making functional and beautiful handmade items that she can use in her everyday life.

Be part of a new figure drawing collective starting up at Makers’ Mill. Sessions will run every Monday and will focus on long poses, and include a warm up consisting of several short poses.
We’ll be bringing in local models and a local, figure drawing instructor who will drop-in as available. Get in as at the ground level to shape the direction this collective takes. Bring your own lap board, paper, pencils, and creative energy!

This series shows parents how to be both firm and kind, so that their child can learn creative cooperation and self-discipline. Parents will learn how to defuse power struggles, communicate with love, and build on their children’s strengths, hold children accountable with their self-respect intact, win cooperation at home. Positive Discipline shows parents how to focus on positive outcomes and features ways to use positive discipline in your family. Class includes a free weekly meal for parents and children.  Free on-site child care and transportation. The program is funded by The Massachusetts Children’s Trust for families with children ages Birth to 6 years and are actively parenting.

Ongoing until Feb 10 - Annual Little Ceasars Pizza Kit Fundraiser
The Drury High School Band is currently holding its annual Little Caesars Pizza Kits Fundraiser. Band members and band parents will be taking orders for various sizes of pizza kits until February 10th. The scheduled delivery date is March 3rd.  The Pizza kits are frozen for easy storage, come in a variety of sizes and flavors, and contain all the ingredients for a delicious and convenient  meal.  All proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will go directly to help fund the band’s trip to the July 4th 2016 parade in Washington , DC.  For more information or to order pizza kits please contact Tom Bernard at (413) 664-4942 or email drurybandparents@gmail.com  .

The Williamstown Youth Center will host the 13th annual Snowfest at the Williams College Towne Field House and Chapman Skating Rink.  Activities include Giant Trike Racing Course, Rock Climbing Wall, Caricature Artist, Photo Postcards, Bounce House, Vermont Voltage Soccer Clinic, Ice Skating, Arts and Crafts for all ages, Wii, etc. Snowfest is the only fundraiser facilitated by the Youth Center each year.  The event supports the operating budget of the Youth Center and provides funds for scholarships.  Admission is $35 per family/ $5 per student and covers all of the day's activities.

We will host a knitting group every Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 continuing into April. All levels of experience are welcome. The program is free and open to the public. Just bring your projects and knit. The group may explore different yarns and items to knit including socks, shawls, sweaters, hats, etc. You can start at any time. The group coordinator will be Carole Thompson who enjoys exploring yarns and designing her own patterns using body measurements. Carole is the Curator of the Robert Frost Museum in Shaftsbury.
