Tour - Food - Beer - Light Show. Don’t miss out on MASS MoCA this season. MASS MoCA has invited the chamber members to come and enjoy a great night out with them. First, there will be a 30 minute tour of some of the present installations. Then we will enjoy delicious food by Lickety Split, one of our latest members. After that, we will continue to the Beer Garden for some nice cold beer.  We will finish the night with a dazzling light display and music presentation at the Chalet.

Join the entire Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival at MASS MoCA staff, fellows, and our friends and neighbors in North Adams at beautiful Windsor Lake for their annual avant-variety show. DownStreet Art continues with permanent and pop-up gallery exhibition openings, temporary installations, and live music performances. In addition to the new exhibit openings in multiple galleries, this event will feature a temporary installation and performance by Linda Ford, a work-in-progress showing by Jarvis Rockwell, a continuation of the ReVision Chalkboard Project, music at the Mohawk Marquee and more.

Mill City Productions will present its annual cabaret "Painting by Musical Numbers."  "Painting by Musical Numbers" is an original cabaret, directed and conceived by Mill City company members, Michael James Roy and Marissa Carlson that celebrates artistic and musical expression. Song selections will feature fun & creative takes on classic hits and new favorites in Broadway, pop, rock, country, and folk music. Performances will take place at Mill City’s Theatre at Building 4N (next to the Visitor’s Center) in the Western Gateway Heritage State Park in North Adams. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for students/seniors. Tickets are available at the door or can be purchased in advance by visiting www.millcityproductions.org

IS-183 Art School will present an art workshop at the Milne Public Library for children ages 8-12 as a part of the library’s Summer Reading Program “Every Hero Has a Story.” In ancient mythology, the hero's shield often displayed symbols and imagery. Using cardboard and other recyclables, kids will sculpt modern day shields depicting their hero's journey. They also will design and screen print our own heroic emblem to add. Berkshire Opera Festival is offering its first musical event in the Berkshires at Ventfort Hall in Lenox.  General Director Jonathon Loy and Artistic Director Brian Garman, co-founders of the company, will present this free concert, featuring some of opera’s greatest arias and ensembles as a prelude to the company’s inaugural season in summer 2016. The concert will be headlined by soprano Caroline Worra, tenor Cody Austin and baritone Kyle Pfortmiller.  Reservations are required and can be made online through BOF’s Facebook page or by calling 646-559-0453.

Parents need to know that many characters are in peril before Superman saves the day, including a school bus full of kids teetering off the Golden Gate Bridge, two coasts threatened by a missile launch, and Lois who is buried alive after an earthquake. Superman can't save his adopted dad from a heart attack, however, and is shown mourning his death. There is some smoking in the Daily Planet newsroom typical of the '70s and a few swear words. Superman fights for "truth, justice, and the American way" - your basic superhero role model.

A wide range of contemporary American musicians, from folk, alt-country and rockabilly to garage, punk and psych-folk bands, are scheduled to perform this summer at Chesterfest, a new Americana music series presented by Chesterwood, a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The concerts will be held at Chesterwood on Sunday evenings from July 19 through August 30, rain or shine. Artists perform at 5:30 p.m., followed by a second artist at 6:30 p.m. The grounds open at 5 p.m.; attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for lawn seating.

The Lift Ev’ry Voice Film Series, part of the 2015 Lift Ev’ry Voice Festival, kicks off  July 14 with a free screening of the Brazilian film "Quilombo," followed by a discussion led by film curator and Lift Ev’ry Voice co-chair Don Quinn Kelley, at the Berkshire Museum's Little Cinema. The film series, which is co-sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Berkshire Community College and Berkshire Museum, is free and open to the public, with a $5 suggested donation.
