MONTPELIER, Vt. -- A two-base error in the outfield sparked a four-run ninth inning for the North Adams SteepleCats as they defeated Vermont, 7-3, on Monday evening in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.

The SteepleCats entered the ninth with a 3-2 lead before the big inning, which started when Joseph Burns reached second base on an error in the outfield and was highlighted by Victor Sorrento's two-run double.

Burns went 3-for-4 wth a double and an RBI for North Adams (11-8), which got seven strong innings from starter Josh Garran.

Garran struck out four, walked two and allowed four hits and one run in seven innings, lowering his earned run average to 1.48 this summer.

North Adams is back on the road on Wednesday, traveling to Plymouth.
