ADAMS, Mass. – The employees of Adams Community Bank are on a mission to show how much they care about those within the community affected by a cancer diagnosis.

Their  fundraising efforts will benefit two really special local organizations – Moments House and PopCares.

To begin their fundraising initiatives for their new endeavor, they will be hosting “Happy Uno de Mayo,” a Mexican Night at the Richmond Grille at the Holiday Inn in North Adams, on Friday, May 1. The event will offer margarita and sangria tasting and Mexican food stations. The cost of the event is $20 and all of the proceeds raised will go directly to Moments House and PopCares, Inc.

To continue with their efforts, the team will also be hosting a golf tournament on Saturday, May 9, at the Stamford Valley Golf Course. For more information on either of these events, contact Lisa Odvar at 413-749-1144 or lodvar@adamscommunity.com or Kris Bona at 413-749-1165 or kbona@adamscommunity.com.

Also, the bank will be encouraging customers’ participation in “Drop Your Change for Cancer” and the purchasing of paper “Ribbons.”

Moments House in Pittsfield is a place to go for those who need help. They encourage those with a diagnosis to call or drop-in anytime without an appointment. Some of the things they offer are a mentorship program, rides to appointments, support gatherings, funding assistance, a look good feel good program, and a free wig bank. For more information, visit visit www.momentshouse.org.

PopCares Inc., a nonprofit charity, was established in honor and memory of Bill “Pop” St. Pierre who taught people the importance of sharing small acts of kindness with others on a daily basis. It is the mission of PopCares to ensure that every person fighting cancer and their caregivers in our local Northern Berkshire community have the opportunity to benefit from that same level of support. Some of the ways that PopCares helps is with gift certificates for groceries, gas, dining, or towards lodging while patients are undergoing treatment, assistance with maintaining homes, yards or vehicles, and through small acts of kindness and support through cards and flowers.
