Northern Berkshire  residents are invited to check out and use any of the Northern Berkshire YMCA‘s amenities, as well as partake in free offerings including use of the pool, fitness classes and weight room. See website for details and times.  Local health and wellness practitioners  will be on site at the YMCA during Wellness Wednesday offering complimentary services during two separate shifts. The first shift will be from 11:00am-1:00pm, and there will be blood pressure screenings, chair massage, reiki, and free 20 minute life coaching sessions with Embrace Your Life. The second shift will be from 4:00pm-6:00pm, and there will be a blood pressure screening and nutritional information by Zen Tree Wellness.

Hannah G. Thompson and Arvid Tomayko bring their work together to create a wearable two person fabric sculpture performed as an interactive instrument. A garden of tentacles constitutes a patching interface to control layers of sound. Arvid Tomayko is a Providence based experimental musician, composer and multimedia artist interested in the intersection of improvised electronic music and data or process driven composition realized as unique sound and visual performance systems. Hannah G. Thompson  is a fabric sculptor. She performs dance movement within her wearable sculptures and installed environments. She uses her body to unfold hidden layers of her costumes in ways that speak to her cultural experience as an outsider.

Roberto Carlos Lange, aka Helado Negro, produces bilingual music that is “a sonic landscape that reflects 21st-century Latin America” (NPR). Fresh off a release on Sufjan Stevens’ Asthmatic Kitty label, Lange sets out on his new musical/ visual project Island Universe Story, in development at MASS MoCA with musicians Mikael Jorgensen of Wilco, Oliver Chapoy of Certain Creatures, and Jason Ajemian and Jason Trammell of the William Onyeabor Atomic Bomb Band.

Family Resource Center’s Parenting with Positive Discipline is an 8 ‐week Parenting Series from Monday, January 26-Monday, March 23. This series shows parents how to be both firm and kind, so that their child can learn creative cooperation and self‐discipline. Parents will learn how to: defuse power struggles, communicate with love, build on their children’s strengths, not weaknesses, hold children accountable with their self‐respect intact and win cooperation at home. Positive Discipline shows parents exactly how to focus on solutions while being kind and firm. If you want to enrich your relationship with your children, this series is for you. Families have benefited from the Positive Discipline Parenting Series which features dozens of true stories of positive discipline in action. Class includes a free weekly meal for parents and children. Free on‐site child care and transportation.
