A Workshop for Parents This workshop was designed to help parents understand how to help their child makes brain connections, because parents are their children’s ultimate Brain Builders. Parents will learn easy Brain Building activities that they can use every day in their own home! As a result of this workshop, parents will, 1.Gain an understanding of young children’s brain development 2. Learn ways to turn any moment into a Brain Building moment 3. Understand the importance of back and forth interactions 4. Understand the importance of enriching environments and the types of places that are Brain Building zones. The Martin Luther King Day Committee welcomes everyone to join the Northern Berkshire community as they celebrate the life, principles, and ideals of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by participating in a “Day of Service”. A celebratory luncheon will follow. The celebration begins at 9 a.m. at MCLA Church Street Center (located on the corner of Church and Porter Streets) to register with coffee and pastries. Participate by providing service to the community at more than ten sites including: Louison House, North Adams Skating Rink, YMCA, local churches, weatherization for homes, food collection sites, and projects onsite at the MCLA Church Street Center. After morning service projects, all participants are invited to return to MCLA Church Street Center at 12:30 for a free luncheon and community celebration of the day of service in honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., while enjoying local entertainment and hearing uplifting words tying our efforts to Martin Luther King, Jr. The annual Peacemaker Award presentation to Al and Cindi McLain will be made during the lunchtime celebration. This event is free and everyone in the community is encouraged to volunteer and celebrate our Northern Berkshire community.
