Northern Berkshire YMCA CEO Justin Ihne, right, is leaving his post this month.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The boards of directors of the Northern Berkshire YMCA and the Pittsfield Family YMCA have approved an agreement under which the Pittsfield Family YMCA will provide interim management for the North Adams facility upon the departure of CEO Justin Ihne.

Ihne is leaving North Berkshire at the end of October to pursue a position with another YMCA in New Jersey.

"Although we intend to appoint a permanent replacement for Justin in time, this agreement with the Pittsfield YMCA will provide us with interim leadership," said David Brown, president the Northern Berkshire YMCA Board of Directors. "Our friends in Pittsfield will offer operational assistance in such areas as human resources and staff development, and hiring and training."

"Over the past year, the Northern Berkshire YMCA and the Pittsfield Family YMCA have been exploring ways to increase our impact on the people and communities we serve in Berkshire County," said Randy Kinnas, CEO and executive director of the Pittsfield YMCA.  "Partnering our two associations will increase opportunities to expand and strengthen Y programs and services, particularly in the areas of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility."

The Northern Berkshire YMCA is located at 22 Brickyard Court, adjacent to Brayton Elementary School. For information or to become a member, call 413-663-6529.
