NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Neighborhoods throughout North Adams and Adams are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide on Tuesday, Aug. 4, for the 32nd annual National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.

National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored by Northern Berkshire Community Coalition's programs, Northern Berkshire Neighbors and nb21. In all, over 37 million people in 15,000 communities around the nation are expected to participate in America’s National Night Out Against Crime.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime/drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Locally, this is where residents can go to participate in National Night Out:

* Renfrew Park, Adams, 4-7 p.m.: Music, food, games, prizes, Adams Police and Fire departments

* UNO Playground on Bracewell Avenue, North Adams, 5-7 p.m.: Ice Cream Sundae Party, NAPD, NAFD, North Adams Ambulance

* Greylock Valley Back Field, North Adams, 6-8 p.m.: Substance Abuse Prevention & Intervention, Music, BBQ, games, NAPD, NAFD, North Adams Ambulance

* Mohawk Forest, North Adams, 4:30-6:30 p.m.: Freeze-Out Crime, games, contest, NAPD, NAFD, North Adams Ambulance

* Brayton Hill, North Adams, 4-8 p.m.: Food, fun, and making our neighborhood safe, DJ, games, NAPD, NAFD, North Adams Ambulance
