WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The visiting Framingham State University baseball team swept a MASCAC doubleheader from MCLA defeating the Trailblazers 8-3 in the opener, before using Michael Andrews shutout to earn a 2-0 win in the nightcap. With the win, the Rams improve to 15-11 overall and move into second place in the MASCAC at 5-1. MCLA drops to 2-15 overall and 0-6 in the conference.

Game One

The Rams wasted little time in jumping on top of MCLA plating a pair of runs in the opening inning. William Derosier's two run double to right field was the key hit in the frame. Framingham would add a single run in the second inning on a groundout, and then Derosier knocked home his third run of the game in the third inning as the Rams led 4-0.

MCLA would get a run back in the bottom of the third on Chase Preite's double to deep center field. The Trailblazers would leave a pair of runners on base as Framingham induced a groundout to end the frame.

After the Rams extended to 5-1 in the fifth, MCLA mounted their best chance to rally loading the bases with two outs. Garrett Alibozek's RBI single brought home Jared Gersch, who was hit by a pitch. With the bases still loaded, Dillon Corliss got Tyler Benoit to line out to third base and end the threat.

Framingham essentially put the game away with a pair of runs in the sixth to make a winner out of Corliss. He went five innings, allowing just five hits and struck out one. Mike Mancivalano took the loss for MCLA tossing six innings and allowing seven runs (five earned), with five walks and five strikeouts.

Gray finished with three hits to lead Framingham, while Derosier, Mark Mainini, and Manny Powers each had two. Framingham outhit MCLA 12-6 in the opener.

Alibozek led MCLA with a pair of hits.

Game Two

Game 2 was more of a pitchers duel between the Rams' Michael Andrews and MCLA's Robert Jutras. Framingham got a one out walk from Matt Roberge who then advanced to second on a wild pitch. He would come around to score on Derosier's RBI single for an early 1-0 advantage.

The Rams would benefit again from Jutras' wildness in the third as Ivan Colon walked to lead off the frame and stole second. Anthony Iafolla's two out single brought Colon home for a 2-0 lead. From there, the story was Andrews.

He breezed through the first three innings facing just one over the minimum. He ran in to trouble in the fourth though as MCLA rallied. Mike Sullivan reached on an error and was followed by singles from Chase Preite and Rory Slattery. Andrews dug down though and got Garrett Alibozek to strikeout before inducing a 1-2-3 double play from Tyler Benoit to end the inning and keep a zero on the board.

Andrews would finish off the shutout with a 1-2-3 seventh inning to send the Rams to their fifth conference win. He allowed just 4 hits and struck out seven Trailblazers.

Jutras danced around trouble all game as he tossed 6 2/3  innings allowing just 4 hits, but he was hurt by 8 walks. He struck out a pair of Rams.

Derosier continued his strong showing at the plate collecting a pair of hits in the nightcap. Preite paced MCLA with two more hits as well.

Framingham will take on Salem State in a key MASCAC matchup Tuesday.
