NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts senior forward Jamal Brown has been named to the All MASCAC second team following a vote of the leagues' coaches.
Brown leads the basketball team in scoring and rebounding. MCLA has advanced to the conference semifinals and will play at top seeded Salem State University on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
Brown, who hails from Springfield rebounded from a sluggish start to average over 12.4 ppg and 7.0 rebounds a night. Brown's season high was a 27 point performance on Jan. 31 against Salem. That performance capped off a stretch of four consecutive 20+ point performances, all of which were in league play. Brown averaged just under 16 points per game in conference play.
Brown is a strong finisher around the basket as evidenced by his 51 percent shooting percentage. He also collected five double doubles on the season.
He was joined on the second team by Bridgwater State University's Samuel Johnson and Anthony Fortes, Framingham State University's Tyrone Figueroa, and Salem's Nathan Simpson.
