NORTH ADAMS, Mass. --  Karina Mattera scored 19 points and Drury's Emily Moulton knocked down the game winning basket with 24 seconds remaining as MCLA held off Cobleskill for a 73-68 win on Wednesday in the Amsler Campus Center Gym in the the season opener for both programs.   After leading by as many as 19 in the first half and owning a 43-29 edge at halftime, the Trailblazers let Cobleskill inch back into the contest in the third quarter.   The Fighting Tigers would cut the deficit to 58-47 heading to the fourth and then rallied behind Addy Lawson. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The MCLA Volleyball team cruised to a pair of 3-0 wins over Massachusetts Maritime Academy this afternoon in the MASCAC finale for both schools.   With the win in game one, the Trailblazers earned the fourth seed in next week's MASCAC championship. MCLA (11-17, 4-3 MASCAC) will host Bridgewater State on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. MMA fell to 3-26 with the setbacks.   Match One:  The Trailblazers took the opening set 25-8 before taking the second in similar fashion 25-5.  They would close out the match with a 25-10 win in the third.   MCLA helped its cause with 21 aces in the match. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- After a sluggish start, the MCLA volleyball team pulled away from visiting Cobleskill, defeating the Fighting Tigers, 3-1, Tuesday in the Amsler Campus Center Gym.   The Fighting Tigers (8-15) took it to the Trailblazers in the opening set cruising to a 25-19 victory. The second set was tight throughout until MCLA (9-17) pulled away late to even things up with a 25-18 set win knotting it at 1-1. Taconic’sand Wahconah’s are among their team’s leaders as freshmen at Endicott College this fall.   Whiteley is second on the team in rushing with 19.1 yards per game, and Genaway is second in receiving yards per game with 31.3 ypg for the 1-6 Gulls.   Whiteley scored his first career touchdown on a 3-yard run in a 31-26 loss to MIT earlier this month.
