NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Brandon Davis connected seven times from beyond the 3-point arc to score a game-high 22 and lead Swish to a 66-44 win over Frank Field Contracting on Monday in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League.   Swish lived up to its team name, hitting 17 3s as a team.   Robbie Burke scored 15 for Frank Field, which got a double-double from Jameson Coughlan, who had 14 points and 12 rebounds.   In Monday's other game, Fortitude Strength & Conditioning defeated Central Radio, 62-32.   Lucas Shatford had a game-high 27 points and eight boards for Fortitude.   Kollin Allard and Nino Sanchez added 15 and 10, respectively, in the win.   For

MYSTIC, Conn. -- Hoosac Valley High School graduate Matt Koperniak went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and five RBIs Monday to lead the North Adams SteepleCats to a 6-2 win over Mystic on Monday in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.   Koperniak raised his batting average to .434 this season and hit his second homer and 21st double in 22 games.   Andrew Pedone went 2-for-5 at the plate with the Cats' other RBI.   Joseph Kemlage earned the win with four innings of scoreless relief of starter Alex Gomes. The pair combined to strike out 10 Schooners.   North Adams (18-10) takes a two-game winning streak into Tuesday's game at New Bedford.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Joe Wiggins scored 12 points Sunday to lead three players in double figures as Flynn & Dagnoli/Kingsbread edged Pizza House, 61-60, in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League.   Lawrence Carrier scored 11, and Dave Wellington added 10 in the win.   For Pizza House, Deshawn Hamlett and Clayton Palmer tied for game-high honors with 21 points. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Tre Kirklin went 4-for-4, and Nicholas Payero threw seven scoreless innings to lead the North Adams SteepleCats to a 9-2 win over Danbury in New England Collegiate Baseball League action at Joe Wolfe Field on Sunday.   Kirklin drove in a pair of runs, and Matt Koperniak and Shane Muntz each had a double in a 13-hit North Adams attack.   Payero struck out five and allowed just two hits in seven strong innings, lowering his earned run average to 1.29 this summer.   The SteepleCats (17-10) travel to face Mystic on Monday night, the first of four road games this week, before coming home to face Newport in a rare matinee on Saturday afternoon.

BOSTON -- Dylan Burke and Zabion Powell took home gold medals from the Bay State Games wrestling competition on Saturday at UMass-Boston.   Burke, wrestling at 195 pounds, showed his toughness finishing the tournament with a broken nose according to his high school coach, Taconic's Jeremy Tetreault.   "He had a tough two-point win over the New Hampshire state champ," Tetreault said.   And at 148 pounds, Powell "dominated the college competition at his first open tournament."   Eleven grapplers from the Berkshire Wrestling Club, coached by Dwayne Miller, competed in the Bay State Games festival.   Seven of the 11 placed

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -- The Upper Valley Nighthawks scored four times in the fifth inning en route to an 8-7 win over the North Adams SteepleCats on Wednesday night.   Joseph Porricelli went 3-for-4 with a triple, and Scot Knotts was 2-for-3 with a double a home run and a pair of RBIs for North Adams.   Matt Koperniak went 2-for-4, scored twice and drove in a run for the Cats.   The SteepleCats used four pitchers.
