Jennie L. Melito, 92

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Jennie Louise Melito, 92, of 231 North St. died Tuesday evening, Feb. 7, 2006, at North Adams Commons.



Born in North Adams on July 7, 1913, daughter of Alfonso and Genoveffa Canale Pisano, she attended schools in North Adams.



Mrs. Melito was last employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for 44 years, retiring in 1978. In her younger years, she was employed by the former H.W. Clark Biscuit Co.



She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of the Sprague Quarter Century Club and the Sprague Retirees.



Her husband, Vincent Melito, whom she married May 29, 1930, in St. Anthony's Church, died Sept. 6, 1975.



She leaves five daughters, former City Councilor Frances V. Buckley of North Adams, Dolores J. Knox of Northborough, Genevieve M. Beckwith of Cheshire, Mary A. Sieckowski of Wakefield, R.I., and Patricia A. Baker of Adams; two sons, Joseph V. Melito and former City Councilor Vincent R. Melito, both of North Adams; a sister, Theresa Morocco of North Adams; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.



Two sisters and three brothers are deceased: Philomena Guerino, Josephine Collins, Dominick Pisano and Vincent and Anthony Pisano, both of whom were killed during World War II.



FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Melito will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 10:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church celebrated by the Rev. David Raymond, pastor of St. Mary's Church in Cheshire. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations maybe be made to St. Anthony's Capital Campaign or the North Adams Commons Activities Fund in care of the funeral home.
