Violet Torchia, 89

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Violet Genevieve (Mancini) Torchia, 89 of North Adams, MA died Tuesday November 17, 2020 at the home of her son in Becket, MA.



She was born in North Adams, MA on February 23, 1931, a daughter of David and Constance (Gigliotti) Mancini. She graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School and attended Becker Junior College.



worked at Sprague Electric Co for a short time until her marriage. She was primarily a homemaker and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Above all, enjoyed spending time with her family.



She was the widow of Francis Patrick "Frank" Torchia, who died on July 26, 1999. They were married on October 3, 1953 in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Survivors include three daughters- Gina M. Kabrehl of Albany, NY; Bianca V. Torchia and Pia T. Bushika, both of Douglas, MA and two sons- Dino P. Torchia of Becket, MA and Mario F. Torchia of Palmer, MA. She also leaves 18 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; three sisters including Faith "Dolly" Trottier, Dolores Bianco and Gabriela Bond, all of North Adams; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her sister- Gioia Zappone.



FUNRAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Violet Torchia will be celebrated Saturday November 21, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. A calling hour will be Saturday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA. Memorial donations may be made to EWTN; Salesian Missions or St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in care of the funeral home. We are so sorry for your loss. She’s in heaven now with her sister ( Grandma Gioia ) probably laughing and enjoying each other’s company falling asleep on comfy couches. These women were such pillars of love and family for us. Sending you love for here on Earth.
