NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Shawn Walter O'Dell Sr., 57, 262 Mohawk Forest Blvd, North Adams, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by his wife and children.

He was born in North Adams, Mass., on January 19, 1962, a son of Walter and Geraldine (Farr) O'Dell. He attended Drury High School. During his high school years, Shawn worked in construction and later worked at Modern Aluminum.

Shawn enjoyed family and friend gatherings, fishing, cookouts and football and we all enjoyed his sense of humor. He was also a lover of cats.

Shawn is survived by his wife of 18 years, Dorothy O'Dell; his two daughters, Rebecca Ann O'Dell and Sarah Louise O'Dell; one son, Shawn Walter O'Dell Jr.; stepsons Roy Crockwell and wife Leslie and John Crockwell and wife Shelley; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He also leaves three sisters, Teresa O'Dell, Holly Bell and Victoria Webster; one brother, Eric O'Dell; and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his father, Walter H. O'Dell (2000); mother, Geraldine (Farr) O'Dell (2002); and brother Walter R. O'Dell (2004).

Funeral notice: A gathering of remembrance and celebration of life will be held at the home of Shawn and Dorothy O'Dell at 262 Mohawk Forest Blvd. on September 15, 2019, at 2 p.m.
