Joan Ann Bulshey, 86

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Joan Ann (Rivers) Bulshey, 86, of North Adams, Mass., died Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the home of her son in Florida, Mass.



She was born in North Adams, Mass., on May 6, 1932, daughter of William J. and Mildred M. (Curry) Rivers. She graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School with the class of 1949. Joan was first employed by Arnold Print Works until her marriage. After raising her family, she returned to work in 1985 at Excelsior Process and Engraving, where she worked until her retirement in 2001. She also assisted her husband in the operation of Tom's Mobil Station on State Road from 1977 to 1985 and worked at the former "Stitchery" on Eagle Street.



She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Joan enjoyed sewing, knitting and needlepoint. Most of all, Joan loved spending time with her family, including family vacations to Maine.



She was the widow of Thomas J. Bulshey, who died on July 7, 2013.  They were married on May 9, 1953, in St. Francis of Assisi Church.



Survivors include two daughters, Lisa A. Peloquin and her husband, Ronald, of Southampton, Mass., and Dawn F. Brady and her husband, Gene, of Hinsdale, Mass.; one son, Mark Thomas Bulshey of Florida, Mass.; five grandchildren, Erica Bulshey of Florida, Mass., Danielle Bulshey of Adams, Nicole Brady of Washington, Mass., Casey Peloquin of Suffield, Conn., and Madeline Sakowitz of South Hadley; and nine great-grandchildren, Brielle, Caleb, Trace, Sterling, Lilliauna, Caelyn, Sawyer, Amara, and Magnolea.



Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Joan Bulshey will be celebrated Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.  



Calling hours at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass., are Tuesday, January 15, 2019, from 4 to 6 p.m.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
