Scholarship Offered to BART Graduates| 12:00PM / Sunday, May 01, 2022 | |
ADAMS, Mass. — Graduates of Berkshire Arts & Technology Charter Public School (BArT) who have completed their first year of college are invited to apply for the Julia Bowen Bridge to College Scholarship. The scholarship fund was established in 2017 to honor Julia Bowen, BArT's founding executive director. The scholarship was created by and is managed by the BART Foundation to provide financial assistance to select BArT alumni through their college career. A scholarship of up to $1,000 will be awarded to a BArT alumnus or alumna who has successfully completed year 1 of college.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The community is rallying around Zowie Martin-Levesque, the McCann Technical School senior seriously burned in an accident at the school on Wednesday. A meal train has been set up for younger siblings and a raffle for a $500 gift certificate is being held by Hometown Tire Works to benefit the family. Martin-Levesque reportedly caught on fire while welding in the school's metal fabrication shop and suffered third-degree burns. The Williamstown teen was taken to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield and then by medical helicopter to another hospital 3 1/2 hours away.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The City Council on Tuesday referred traffic and pedestrian issues on historic Eagle Street to the mayor's office and a filed another one on artistic cross walks. Both issues had been raised last year by former Councilor Benjamin Lamb. The papers had been taken up by the Traffic Commission on April 13; Councilor Marie T. Harpin, the appointed council member on the commission, provided an update and recommendations from the commission. "There were three recommendations. City Woman Wins Hometown Holidays Gift Basket |
Jonathan Secor had some help in pulling the winning ticket.
Congrats to Janet O'Neill of North Adams who won the big Hometown Holidays gift basket on Thursday. O'Neill won some $1,300 worth of gift certificates and merchandise.
The drawing could be entered by spending $50 downtown during the Thursday night Hometown Holiday events. Jonathan Secor of MCLA Gallery 51 said 62 people had entered the contest (including the editor of iBerkshires &mdash amazing how much cat toys cost nowadays).
