Coping with the Formula Shortage

We always try to make the best decisions for our children. So, for parents of infants, a shortage of their main food source is especially anxiety provoking. Please see the steps below for making safe choices while supplies for formula are short.   First, make sure that the formula you have is safe and not subject to the recall causing the shortage. If you are using Similac, use the directions at the Abbot website to check if your package of formula is among those affected. The recalled formula may contain harmful bacteria that can cause serious illness.   The best solution for most families is to switch brands to an equivalent-type formula. MCLA Gallery 51 to Host Artist Talk and Book Signing with Photographer

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Arts and Culture (MAC) will host an artist talk and book signing with photographer Lydia Panas from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 3, at MCLA Gallery 51 on Main Street.    A screening of Panas' work will follow at MASS MoCA from 9-10 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.     Panas' recent work, "Sleeping Beauty" a series of photographs and video installations, has been exhibited across the country. Door Prize Eatery Expanding at Mass MoCA for Summer

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Jennifer A. Klowden and Bryan "Swifty" Josephs will be moving their pop-up eatery, Door Prize, into the vacant restaurant space at Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art.    They were approved for a beer and wine license by the Licensing Commission on Tuesday.    The couple have spent a few months offering a sampling of regional cuisine once or twice a week, ordering through Bright Ideas Brewing. BFAIR Helps Place Flags on Veterans' Graves in Southview

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Members of Berkshire Family & Individual Resources (BFAIR) spent Saturday morning placing flags on veterans' graves in Southview Cemetery   "This is absolutely wonderful that we were able to get some of our people out to help with the flags," Community Based Day Services (CBDS) Assistant Director Kristin Neep said. North Adams Man Injured in Williamstown Motorcycle Accident

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — A North Adams resident Saturday night was found bleeding and unconscious after a motorcycle accident on North Hoosac Road near the North Adams line, according to a Police Department report.   Edward Laurin Lacosse Jr. of West Shaft Road was traveling west at a high rate of speed in a group of three riders when he lost control of his vehicle, according to a report filed by Police Officer Shuan William.   Lacosse, who was operating a motorcycle belonging to a friend at the time, started to lay the vehicle down and applied the brakes hard, the report reads. The motorcycle crossed into the eastbound lane and crashed into a guard rail.   The report says

Mount Greylock School Committee Member: Widen Audience for Diversity Discussion

North Adams Awarded $200K for Mohawk Marquee Restoration

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The city is receiving $200,000 in state funding toward the refurbishment of the landmark Mohawk Theater marquee.    North Adams was awarded $200,000 from the Regional Economic Development Organization program, which is administered through the Massachusetts Office of Business Development.
