Holyoke Earns Extra-Inning Win over SteepleCats

HOLYOKE, Mass. -- The Valley Blue Sox rallied to erase a four-run deficit and earn a 5-4, walkoff win in the bottom of the 11th against the North Adams SteepleCats on Thursday.   Hunter Pasqualini went 2-for-5 in a five-hit attack for North Adams.   The SteepleCats (0-3) travel to play Ocean State on Friday.

North Adams' Thomas Earns Three Wins at Special Olympics

ORLANDO, Fla. — North Adams' Jenna Thomas made it three golds in three events at this week's Special Olympics USA Games.   Thomas finished her competition on Thursday by helping Team Massachusetts earn a team gold at the Boardwalk Bowl Entertainment Center.   That added to the individual gold Thomas picked up on Tuesday and the doubles gold she earned on Wednesday.   Thomas, who has been competing in Special Olympics for 20 years, said competing on the national stage was a unique opportunity.   "Going to the USA games is an honor to represent Massachusetts and meet a lot of new people," Thomas said in remarks reported by Special

North Adams Hosts Veterans Summer Barbecue Friday

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The second annual Veterans Barbecue will be held Friday, June 10, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Greylock Club pavilion.    Any and all veterans can attend the event that is hosted by Veterans Agent Stephen Roy's Office.   "It gets our veterans together in a normal setting to chat with other veterans and network with each other," Tina Samson, administrative assistant and organizer said. North Adams School Officials OK $800K for School Feasibility Study

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The School Committee on Tuesday approved the expenditure of up to $800,000 to pay for the design team and feasibility study the Brayton/Greylock project.    "It is a reasonable estimate based on the expectations and the complexities of this project since there are in fact two sites involved in this project," said Superintendent Barbara Malkas. Thompson Trial Rescheduled for September After Monday Bus Crash

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The trial for Joseph Thompson on motor vehicle negligent homicide charges was delayed yet again after the bus carrying jurors to the scene of the 2018 accident got in an accident itself on First Street on Monday.    The bus mishap led Superior Court Judge Jennifer Tyne to declare a mistrial. A new trial date was set for Sept. 19, with a trial readiness conference scheduled for Aug. 16.    Tyne also was on board the bus along with attorneys and other court officers when it was hit head-on by a pickup truck at about 1 p.m.   The jurors were expected to view the area at South Church Street near Berkshire Family and Individual Resources where

Greylock Principal Chosen to Lead Clarksburg School

North Adams' Thomas Takes Gold at Special Olympics USA

ORLANDO, Fla. -- North Adams' Jenna Thomas rolled a 123 game Tuesday to earn a first place finish in the singles bowling competition at the the Special Olympics USA Games.   Thomas compiled a three-game series of 310 with games of 96, 91 and 123 at the Boardwalk Bowl Entertainment Center.   She is representing Team Massachusetts again on Wednesday in the doubles competition and again on Thursday in the team event.
