SANFORD, Maine -- Cooper Omans Friday threw six scoreless innings to lead the North Adams SteepleCats to a 2-0 win over the Sanford Mainers.   Omans allowed three hits, walked two and struck out five.   Austin McKinney threw one inning of relief, and Will Hearn struck out three over the last two innings to earn the save.   Ryan Galanie went 2-for-4 with an RBI in a five-hit attack for North Adams, which travels to Bristol on Saturday.

North Adams Commends Actions of Public Safety Personnel

The officers and dispatcher were presented with pins and commendations.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Three public safety personnel were lauded for their efforts in February that helped save the life of a shooting victim.    Officers Jonathan Beaudreau and Taylor Kline and dispatcher Kaitlyn LaValley were commended by Mayor Jennifer Macksey at Tuesday's City Council meeting.    They had been part of the response to a shooting at about 1:20 a.m. near Key West Lounge on State Street on Feb. 19 that injured two people. Rose Homers, SteepleCats Win Second Straight

KEENE, N.H. -- Cedric Rose and three other North Adams SteepleCats homered Wednesday in a 9-5 win over the Swamp Bats in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.   The Taconic graduate and UMass-Lowell student hit his second round-tripper of the summer as the Cats picked up their second win of the season.   Alex Lane, Ryan Galanie and Kyle Hannon also homered in a nine-hit North Adams attack.   Johnnie Valdez earned the win on the mound, going 6-2/3 innings, striking out four and allowing four runs.   North Adams (2-7) is off on Thursday before traveling to Sanford, Maine, on Friday.

North Adams OKs $45M Budget for Fiscal 2023

Mayor Jennifer Macksey presents her city first budget on Tuesday.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The City Council approved 8-1 a $45 million budget appropriation for fiscal 2023 on Tuesday night.     The spending plan of $44,536,735 is up 5.08 percent over this year, or about $2.15 million.    "While this percentage may seem high, we will demonstrate that we have the capacity through our revenues to support this budget," said Mayor Jennifer Macksey. North Adams Police Arrest Two With Drug Charges

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Police arrested Yadiel Martinez and Ashley Bartosik who allegedly were carrying nearly 970 bags of heroin and 52.7 grams of cocaine/crack cocaine.   On Thursday, June 9, 2022, the North Adams Police Department executed multiple search warrants within the City of North Adams for narcotics distribution.    This led to the arrest of Martinez and Bartosik.    Along with the drugs, police reported that they also had $7,697.   Assisting with these search warrants were members of the Adams Police Department and Pittsfield Police Department.
