Protect Your Eyes During the Solar Eclipse

Many people are eagerly awaiting the rare total solar eclipse that will take place on April 8, when the moon will completely block the sun. Starting around 2 pm and lasting for about one hour, the daytime skies of northern Vermont and New Hampshire will slowly darken.

At Dartmouth Health, we want to make sure you keep your eyes safe while you observe the magic of the eclipse. 

On April 8, a total solar eclipse will darken the daytime skies of both Northern Vermont and Northern New Hampshire. Air Quality Analysis Required for State Permits Near Certain Populations

BOSTON — The Healey-Driscoll administration moved to address air quality issues in or near environmental justice areas by announcing amendments to state air pollution regulations.

The changes require certain facilities seeking air emissions permits in or near communities with environmental justice populations to conduct a cumulative impact analysis, which evaluates existing local environmental and health conditions in a community. Drury High School Life Skills Class Gets Bleed Training

The course is part of a Strong Communities grant that includes life-skill training in other areas such as swimming, cooking and addressing domestic violence.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — If a medical emergency happens, Drury High students know how to "Stop the Bleed."   Teens enrolled in the high school's life skills class learned life-saving measures this week at the Police Department. Berkshire Adult Baseball League Welcomes Players for 13th Season

PITTSFIELD, Mass. –  As it enters its 13th season, the Berkshire Adult Baseball League has a new commissioner.   Jared Martin takes over the reins this spring from BABL founder Lou Orazio.   The league, which has games mostly on Sunday mornings with some weeknights throughout the season, runs from early May through mid-August in two divisions, the 20-and-over Division and the 33-and-over Division.   “The 20+ year old division is full of mostly competitive players, while the 33+ year old division is a more fun environment and less on the competitive side of things,” Martin said.   As of late March, the league has 13 teams lined up for the 2024

Clarksburg Sees Race for Select Board Seat

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — The town will see a three-way race for a seat on the Select Board in May.    Colton Andrews, Seth Alexander and Bryana Malloy returned papers by Wednesday's deadline to run for the three-year term vacated by Jeffrey Levanos.    Andrews ran unsuccessfully for School Committee and is former chairman of the North Adams Housing Authority, on which he was a union representative. Clarksburg Gets 3 Years of Free Cash Certified

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Town officials have heaved a sigh of relief with the state's certification of free cash for the first time in more than three years.   The town's parade of employees through its financial offices the past few years put it behind on closing out its fiscal years between 2021 and 2023. A new treasurer and two part-time accountants have been working the past year in closing the books and filing with the state.   The result is the town will have $571,000 in free cash on hand as it begins budget deliberations.
