NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts' (MCLA) Gallery 51 will host "Stigmas and Stories: Changing the Narrative," featuring artwork from students in the Classes of 2020, 2021, 2022, with an in-person opening reception at the gallery from 5-6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022. This event free and is open to the public, and refreshments will be served. This exhibition will feature three graduating senior artists: Kennedy Sobon, Nhi Lam, and Ana Sheehy, all from the Class of 2022, as well as the work from from the 2020 and 2021 classes. The winner of the $300 Berkshire Eagle grand prize was Christopher Fortier of Hoosac Valley High School for his handsewn 'Cliff the bull' costume. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Nearly 300 area high school students participated in this year's Teen Invitational at Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. The weekend exhibition was the 10th event and the first since 2019 because of the pandemic. This year, the invitational was held inside Building 6 next to the Jenny Holzer exhibit.  LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — Members of DCR told the Mount Greylock Advisory Council that in most cases vehicles longer than 22 feet will no longer be allowed to traverse the roads to the summit. "I think overall everyone will be pleased with the way this came out, and it will fix a lot of problems for us," Mark Jester, mountain district manager for the state Department of Conservation and Recreation, said. The councilors at their last meeting had talked about concerns they had with school buses and other long vehicles navigating the tricky summit roads. ADAMS, Mass. — Graduates of Berkshire Arts & Technology Charter Public School (BArT) who have completed their first year of college are invited to apply for the Julia Bowen Bridge to College Scholarship. The scholarship fund was established in 2017 to honor Julia Bowen, BArT's founding executive director. The scholarship was created by and is managed by the BART Foundation to provide financial assistance to select BArT alumni through their college career. A scholarship of up to $1,000 will be awarded to a BArT alumnus or alumna who has successfully completed year 1 of college.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The community is rallying around Zowie Martin-Levesque, the McCann Technical School senior seriously burned in an accident at the school on Wednesday. A meal train has been set up for younger siblings and a raffle for a $500 gift certificate is being held by Hometown Tire Works to benefit the family. Martin-Levesque reportedly caught on fire while welding in the school's metal fabrication shop and suffered third-degree burns. The Williamstown teen was taken to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield and then by medical helicopter to another hospital 3 1/2 hours away.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The City Council on Tuesday referred traffic and pedestrian issues on historic Eagle Street to the mayor's office and a filed another one on artistic cross walks. Both issues had been raised last year by former Councilor Benjamin Lamb. The papers had been taken up by the Traffic Commission on April 13; Councilor Marie T.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The owners of A-oK Berkshire Barbeque announced that they plan to shut up shop after May 2. "This decision did not come easily. We have loved every second here. There are too many memories to mention as all of them were so much a part of our adventure on this campus and in this community," owners Aaron and Alexandra Oster wrote on Facebook on Wednesday. The Osters and Orion Howard, owner of Bright Ideas Brewery, opened the barbecue in 2018 in the former Sprague Electric guardhouse on the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Arts campus.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —The Cruckfather, LLC of Shelburne was selected by a panel of judges on Wednesday during the 2022 Mohawk Trail Entrepreneur Challenge (MTEC) pitch event at Foolhardy Hill in Charlemont, winning a $25,000 Lever Innovation Grant for their innovative timber frame construction business model. The Cruckfather and three other wood-based businesses from the Mohawk Trail region pitched their ideas at the MTEC, the culmination of Lever's startup acceleration program that helped each refine their business plans and work with mentors.
